DFP is currently working with a long standing client of ours based in the Subiaco area. About the Organisation This public-sector organisation is deeply committed to serving the community and enhancing health promotion across Western Australia. Operating within a multifaceted Corporate Services division, the organisation supports a broad range of essential functions, including human resources, financial management, legal, project governance, audit and risk, and information security & integrity. Role Overview Reporting to the Director of Data & Information Governance, the Data Governance Lead is responsible for ensuring the integrity, consistency, and protection of organisational data assets. You will: Identify and map data assets across systems. Develop, enforce, and monitor data quality standards. Lead initiatives to foster a culture of responsible data sharing. Ensure compliance with policy and legislative frameworks. Key Responsibilities Design & Implement Data Governance Frameworks Establish policies, processes, standards, metrics, and tools that align with best practices and organisational standards. Maintain Data Asset Inventories Build and manage a comprehensive data catalogue, dictionary, and inventory. Appoint and oversee Information Stewards across the organisation. Quality Control & Risk Assessment Monitor data quality and integrity, resolve issues promptly, and manage risks related to data sharing. Ensure alignment with relevant regulations and organisational policies, including the establishment of secure Data Sharing Agreements. Governance Tools & Training Utilize tools like Microsoft Purview to manage policies and governance processes. Provide ongoing training and support to users and stakeholders. Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration Actively build relationships with Information Owners, Stewards, and Users to ensure smooth communication and adoption of governance practices. Lead Improvement Projects Drive data management projects and improvements with cross-functional teams, ensuring timely delivery. Facilitate Governance Forums Establish and lead a Data & Analytics Working Group for discussing challenges, sharing best practices, and coordinating governance activities. Other Duties as Directed Mandatory Requirement A current Police Clearance. Essential Selection Criteria Significant experience leading large-scale data management projects in complex settings. Proven design, implementation, and management of data governance activities compliant with industry and legislative standards. Proficiency with data governance technologies (e.g. cataloguing, lineage, governance platforms). Knowledge of data modelling, architecture, and engineering principles. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including high-level stakeholder engagement. Demonstrated leadership and teamwork, with a proactive mindset toward continuous improvement. Qualifications Tertiary qualification in Information/Data Management, Information Science, IT, or a related field and/or a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a comparable role.
