Business Development Manager
Summary
In this role, you will contribute to strategic business development, marketing and communications initiatives across key commercial practice areas including Dispute Resolution, Banking and Finance, Employment, Corporate and Commercial, Property and Projects, Private Client and Tax. With a focus on both national initiatives and increasing brand presence across Sydney and Newcastle, this position offers meaningful, visible work and genuine career progression.
The Role
Key responsibilities include:
• Advising partners and senior lawyers across commercial practice areas on strategic initiatives relating to business development, personal brand building, marketing and communications
• Supporting the Partners in Charge in Sydney and Newcastle on brand promotion and business development activity
• Identifying and progressing business development opportunities across Sydney and Newcastle markets
• Advising on initiatives relating to key commercial clients
• Supporting bids and pursuits, including tender submissions, proposals and capability statements
• Leading directory and award submissions
• Identifying media and external profiling opportunities in partnership with the Communications team
• Managing relationships with business and industry associations including relevant sponsorships
• Collaborating with the Events team to deliver client, sector and national events
• Occasional travel to interstate office

About You
You will ideally bring:
• Minimum two years experience in a marketing or business development role ideally within a law firm or professional services
• Strong understanding of the Sydney and broader NSW markets
• Tertiary qualifications in marketing, business, communications or a relevant discipline
• Excellent relationship building skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• High attention to detail and ability to manage competing deadlines
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office particularly Word, PowerPoint and Excel
• A proactive, solutions focused approach and ability to work collaboratively within a team
