Civil Construction Labourer Permanent Fulltime The Opportunity The position of Civil Construction Labourer supports Council’s Infrastructure Operations by carrying out a range of labouring and manual handling tasks in a safe, efficient, and reliable manner. The role requires the ability to complete physically demanding work across both construction and maintenance projects, in line with recognised industry standards. What Council Offers: 76 hour fortnight with roster variations depending on the position (9-day fortnight - RDOs in accordance with Council policy) Up to 12.5% Superannuation employer contribution for contributing members 5 weeks annual leave plus 17.5% annual leave loading 15 days paid sick/parental leave Salary Packaging options Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Accredited Mental Health First Aid Officers Annual Flu vaccinations Skin Checks Corporate Uniforms (annual allowance) and PPE supplied General Salary Information Level 2C $63,638 per annum and $32.2054 per hour including allowances plus superannuation. Key Responsibilities: Perform a broad range of manual labouring tasks related to civil construction and maintenance, including bitumen, asphalt, concreting, drainage, sewerage, water reticulation, and gardening duties; Operate hand-held power tools, light machinery (e.g. mowers, compactors), and equipment safely and effectively in accordance with Council procedures; Assist in the construction and maintenance of Council infrastructure following approved plans, specifications, and safety documentation; and Complete assigned tasks both independently and as part of a team, maintaining a strong focus on collaboration, problem-solving, and work quality. Our Ideal Candidate Our ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, is reliable, safety-focused, and is either experienced in road maintenance or civil construction or has transferrable skills and is keen to build a career in the industry. You hold a current C Class Driver’s Licence and Construction White Card and are physically fit and capable of carrying out manual labour in varying conditions. You’re a team player who communicates well, follows instructions, and contributes to a positive work environment. Key Selection Criteria If our values resonate with you ‘Opportunity, Respect, Strength and Accountability’ and you possess the following qualifications and experience, read below about how to apply: Mandatory: Previous experience in a similar role within road maintenance or civil construction; Current C Class Driver’s Licence or higher; Construction Industry General Safety Induction Card (White Card); Demonstrated physical fitness and capacity to perform manual labouring tasks in a variety of conditions; Ability to follow directions, work both independently and within a team, and communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers; and Sound understanding of safe work practices and the ability to comply with Workplace Health and Safety requirements. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Applicants must be able to safely and competently carry out strenuous labouring and manual handling activities. The position will require the employee to carry out physical tasks which may include manual handling, repetitive bending, kneeling, twisting and/or squatting, lifting, working in confined spaces, and working at heights.
