NBMLHD Community Mental Health offers a range of specialised services for children, young people, families and older people, through our community-based services and health centres. Our multidisciplinary health professionals and case managers take a collaborative approach to mental health care by linking with their patients to work together and consult within an environment appropriate to the person's needs.
The successful incumbent will ensure optimal outcomes for consumers who are affected by a severe and enduring mental illness and their carers through the promotion of best practice including the appropriate escalation of care. You will work collaboratively utilising effective team communication with members of the multidisciplinary health team in the planning, implementation, assessment and evaluation of patient care.
The Registered Nurse will act as an advocate for the specific needs of all consumers and their carers including those from the indigenous population or other multi-cultural groups providing appropriate care to the patient/client undergoing specialised procedures.
Within this role you will maintain and promote a professional standard evidenced by ethical nursing practice, adherence to the policies and procedures of the Nursing and Midwifery Service, NBMLHD and the appropriate legislation and statutory regulations. What You Will Bring To The Role
Current registration to practice as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA)Demonstrated skills in mental health and discipline specific assessments and interventions and experience working with people with severe and persistent mental illnessExperience working in an Assertive Community Treatment Team and/or knowledge of the principles that guide service delivery within this model of practiceDemonstrated ability to collaborate meaningfully with consumers and carers with a commitment and understanding of recovery principles in mental health service provisionDemonstrated working knowledge of NSW Mental Health Act, 2007Demonstrated excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and good interpersonal skillsComputer competence and literacyCurrent Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel
