About the Role
As an APS Level 6 Finance Officer, you'll support the delivery of a fed gov department's financial reporting obligations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and process improvement. The role balances technical accounting work with stakeholder engagement and provides opportunities to shape and refine financial systems and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the preparation of annual financial statements, notes, and analysis
• Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
• Prepare trend analysis and address anomalies in financial performance
• Investigate and resolve accounting issues, drafting position papers and advice
• Oversee taxation returns including BAS and FBT, and provide tax guidance
• Manage Comcare activities and ensure accurate reporting
• Build relationships with stakeholders and represent Finance in working groups
• Collaborate with ANAO, AGA, and business areas to confirm year-end balances
Skills & Experience
• Strong background in financial accounting and reporting
• Proven ability to interpret and apply accounting standards
• Experience preparing financial statements and reconciliations
• Sound understanding of tax and compliance requirements
• Excellent coordination, liaison, and relationship management skills
• Demonstrated ability to improve and streamline business processes
• High attention to detail and accountability for deliverables
Existing Baseline security clearance is a mandatory requirement for this position.
