The opportunity
You will lead day-to-day operations and growth of RedDoor’s Learner Driver Mentor Program, with a strong focus on our driving simulators: scheduling sessions, maintaining hardware/software, designing training scenarios, and capturing progress data. You’ll coordinate mentors, participants and facilities across Cloncurry and Mount Isa to deliver engaging, well-planned learning that moves learners towards their P-plates.

Key responsibilities
Program leadership
Plan and deliver program targets, calendars and lesson schedules.
Maintain a Safety Management Plan with clear risk controls for on-road lessons, including fatigue, weather and remote area driving.
People & volunteering
Recruit, screen and onboard volunteer mentors; deliver induction and refreshers.
Build fair, reliable rosters; support mentors with resources and debriefs.
Provide day-to-day supervision to any program staff or trainees.
Participant experience
Manage referrals and intake; complete baseline assessments and lesson plans.
Track hours, competencies and readiness for practical tests; celebrate milestones.
Provide culturally safe, trauma-informed, strengths-based support.
Facilities, simulators & logistics
Manage the simulator lab: hardware setup, calibration, software updates and basic troubleshooting.
Schedule simulator sessions; manage room bookings, keys and equipment.
Coordinate vehicles only as needed for supervised drives/tests.
Data, reporting & growth
Maintain accurate records of lessons, hours and outcomes.
Prepare simple dashboards and reports for the management team and funders.
Nurture partnerships with schools, Council, Police, community groups and local business.
Support small grant applications and donor stewardship as needed.
About you (selection criteria)
A tech-confident facilitator/coach comfortable running driving simulators and supporting beginners.
Proven experience coordinating programs/rosters, volunteers or logistics in a community setting.
Clear, compassionate communicator who builds trust with young people, families and mentors.
Strong organisational and admin skills; comfortable with spreadsheets, calendars and CRM/databases.
Practical problem-solver who thrives in a remote/regional context and doesn’t mind rolling up their sleeves.
Essential requirements
Open (manual preferred) driver licence, held for 12+ months (longer strongly preferred).
Current Blue Card (Working with Children), or ability to obtain.
NDIS Worker Screening Check, or ability to obtain.
First Aid & CPR, or willingness to complete within 3 months.
National Police Check (or ability to obtain).
Unrestricted Australian work rights.
Desirable
Qualifications in Youth Work, Community Services, Education/Training, or Driver Education.
Experience with fleet/vehicle coordination and WHS risk management.
Familiarity with NDIS, youth employment pathways, and rural/remote service delivery.
