Manager, Triage & Commissioning

* Ongoing Full-Time
* Located in Parramatta with flexible working arrangements available
* Clerk Grade 11/12 - $149,739 to $173,174 plus superannuation and leave loading

About the role

The Department of Education, Government Business directorate plays a critical role in supporting our Secretary and Ministers by providing timely, coordinated strategic advice and project management to enable high quality decision-making and effective issues management.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Manager to lead the Triage and Commissioning team for our government support functions. The Triage and Commissioning team manages the assessment of requests for information and action received by the portfolio ministerial offices, central agencies and the Office of the Secretary. The role ensures that requests are prioritised and managed efficiently to provide accurate, timely and high-quality responses that meet the needs of our customers and in accordance with any policy, parliamentary and legislative requirements.

Key accountabilities

* Assess and prioritise information requests methodically and holistically to determine organisational risk, stakeholder impact and department priorities to ensure appropriate approach and effective resolution.
* Manage the development and implementation of practices, systems and procedures to consolidate and streamline requests to improve response rates and quality of information across the department.
* Commission requests to ensure appropriate expertise and services from across the portfolio areas investigate and respond.
* Build strong relationships with Government Business Directorate and senior management across the department to support and ensure effective completion of commissioned requests and ensure the effective sharing of content and systems.
* Actively manage the assessment and review of correspondence, briefings, reports and submissions to ensure that written information provided is comprehensive, accurate, and delivered within given timeframes, and prepare reports for senior management on emerging issues, trends and risks.
* Proactively escalate highly contentious information requests to Government Business executives and Business functional leads to support issues and risk management and informed decision making.

* Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements of the role

* Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or demonstrated equivalent knowledge and experience.
* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.

Note: the selection process will include a range of assessment techniques to assist in determining your suitability for the role. Successful candidates will be required to undertake pre-employment screening for this role which includes a National Criminal History Check.

As a condition of employment, successful candidates not currently employed by the Department must provide a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance number. Renewal is not required after the WWCC expires, as long as you remain in a non–child-related role. Employer obligations only apply while the WWCC is valid.
