Position Summary
The Fibreglass and Pipefitting Assistant is responsible for installing, preparing, and securing bondstrands and associated composite reinforcement materials within vessel structures. The role ensures all work is completed to required specifications, drawings, and quality standards, contributing to the structural integrity of hulls, decks, and internal components. Working closely with the mechanical engineering team, the Fibreglass and Pipefitting Assistant prepares surfaces, positions reinforcement materials, applies bonding agents, and supports the integration of strands into composite structures. The position requires strong attention to detail, safe work practices, and the ability to follow technical instructions in a fast‑paced production environment.
Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Attributes
* Experience in composite manufacturing, boatbuilding or a similar trade environment (preferred).

* Ability to work effectively as part of a team with minimal direct supervision
* Ability to meet deadlines and deliver consistent high-quality work in a team environment

Key Responsibilities
* Install fibreglass-reinforced plastic (FRP)/BondStrand pipes, fittings and joints according to drawings, template and engineering specifications.
* Prepare composite surfaces through cleaning, sanding and marking out to ensure proper adhesion.
* Apply bonding agents, resins and adhesives as required for strand installation.
* Fit, align, and secure strands into hulls, decks, bulkheads and other structural areas.
* Use hand tools, power tools, and fixtures safely and effectively during installation.
* Inspect completed work to ensure correct placement, adhesion and quality.
* Identify and report defects, drawing discrepancies or material issues.
* Assist with measuring spaces to determine required pipe lengths.
* Prepare pipe ends for joining using a pipe shaver.
