Mining Comms Technician Mackay, Queensland Permanent Full Time - On site role supporting mining and critical communications environments About HRG is currently recruiting experienced Telecommunications Technicians for a permanent full time opportunity based in Mackay, supporting client sites across Mackay, the Bowen Basin and surrounding regions. This is a hands on field role working across the installation, commissioning, maintenance and fault finding of telecommunications systems that keep mining, resources and critical operational environments connected. You will work across a mix of technologies, including vehicle communications systems, fibre optic cabling, copper cabling, coaxial cabling, RF systems, antennas, wireless networks, radio systems, routers, switches, network equipment and supporting power systems. The Role As a Telecommunications Technician, you will install, configure, commission, maintain and repair communications systems across operational client sites. Your work will include: Installing and configuring telecommunications equipment including routers, switches, antennas, cabling, radio systems and network infrastructure Installing and configuring communications equipment into client site vehicles Completing fibre optic, copper and coaxial cabling installation, termination, testing and fault finding Supporting RF equipment, wireless systems, antennas, radio networks and microwave links Commissioning equipment and integrating systems into existing networks Supporting Digital Mobile Radio systems, including Motorola MOTOTRBO where required Completing preventative maintenance across telecommunications assets and site infrastructure Diagnosing and repairing faults across cabling, power systems, network hardware and communications equipment Performing software and firmware updates on relevant systems Providing on site and remote technical support to end users, operations teams and client representatives Working with engineering and project teams on upgrades, expansions and technology rollouts Maintaining site records, test results, asset documentation and completion reports Working safely across mine sites, field locations and operational environments What You Will Bring You will bring a strong technical background in telecommunications installation, commissioning, maintenance or field service. You will ideally have: At least two years of telecommunications field experience Experience with wired and wireless communications systems Strong fibre optic, copper and coaxial cabling skills Experience installing and configuring communications equipment into vehicles Understanding of IP networking, including routing, switching, VLANs and VoIP Exposure to RF systems, antennas, microwave links, DMR or radio communications Ability to read technical drawings, diagrams and specifications Strong fault finding and problem solving skills A safe, professional and practical approach to site work Good communication skills with clients, site teams and internal stakeholders Qualifications and Tickets Required: Essential: Certificate or Diploma in Telecommunications, Electronics or a related technical discipline Valid Australian driver licence Industry White Card Willingness to travel to client and field sites around Mackay and surrounding regions Highly regarded: ACMA Cabling Licence Fibre optic endorsements Working at Heights First Aid Rigging qualifications Mining industry experience Experience with Motorola MOTOTRBO, DMR, RF, microwave, private LTE, IP or radio networks Why Apply This is a chance to secure a permanent role with a growing communications business supporting critical infrastructure, mining and resources environments across Central Queensland.
