Senior Digital Experience Designer (UI) is a Full Time, 2-year Fixed Term Position
This exciting opportunity will see you reaching a huge number of Victorians and is pivotal in delighting our customers through designing exceptional creative digital solutions.
In recent times Digital Designers at the Department of Transport and Planning reached 145 million user sessions across DTP’s websites and apps and our PTV app has just over 4 million customers. We design a wide range of experiences, including conversational design for chatbots, personailised notifications and navigation across Victoria by bike, road, train and bus, offering real-time traffic updates and top notch digital solutions for divers customer requirements, including emergencies.

Position Outcomes / Accountabilities
1. Work directly with a dedicated UX Designer in an Agile team to improve the digital customer experience.
2. Design high fidelity UI designs for responsive desktop, tablet, iOS, and Android solutions.
3. Design new features as well as iterations of existing features, using sketches, wireframing and prototyping to share your vision.
4. Design animations and micro interactions to create delightful experiences for customers.
5. Collaborate with your team, customers, and stakeholders to both create and communicate digital designs and design decisions.
6. Ensure consistency in your designs to both the overall brand as well as established UI/UX patterns and support the development of design systems (GEL) and style guides.

To be successful in the role the ideal candidate will possess a collaborative and inclusive mindset, valuing teamwork, open communication and a diverse perspective to achieve successful customer outcomes.
Other requirements include;
7. Experience working in an Agile environment, working collaboratively with UX Designers, Developers and Product Owners to rapidly translate digital concepts, UX sketches and wireframes into hi-fidelity visual outputs and interactive prototypes.
8. Innovative skills to be able to influence and develop digital design solutions to complex customer problems, with demonstrated experience in designing for responsive web, iOS, and Android.
9. Ability to seek out and act on feedback from customers, while negotiating with and influencing stakeholders.
10. Exposure to working with, and supporting the creation of, design systems and component libraries.
11. Ability to prepare succinct design presentations to varied audiences.
12. Ability to identify ways to innovate, offering suggestions and ideas to improve outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory
13. 3 + years’ experience working as a UX and/or UI designer, with mobile application experience essential (iOS and Android)
14. Sound knowledge of HCD, design thinking, and Agile methodologies
15. Proficient in Figma
Desirable
16. A degree or qualifications in HCD, communication and graphic design, or multimedia and animation is desirable but not essential.
17. Sound knowledge of the key principles of accessible and inclusive design
18. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript
