As a Psychologist in the Psychological Services & Interventions team, you'll play a crucial role in supporting the rehabilitation of inmates by delivering high-quality psychological services.
You'll be based at the Clarence Correctional Centre in Lavadia, NSW, contributing to a safer and more constructive correctional environment. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for psychologists at all levels — from provisional registration through to senior practitioners — who are ready to support, innovate, and develop their clinical practice.
As a Psychologist, you'll make a positive impact by:
Providing advice and support for mental health wellness programsConducting comprehensive psychological assessments and delivering evidence-based treatmentsParticipating in clinical supervision and multidisciplinary consultations Assisting with the design and development of assessment and treatment toolsPreparing detailed reports including parole board submissions and psychological adviceBuilding strong partnerships with internal staff, community organisations, and local stakeholdersDriving continuous improvement and innovation in psychological services

To Be Successful In This Role You'll Have
Professional registration as a Psychologist (Provisional, General, Clinical, or Counselling registration accepted)The ability to integrate theories of mental health (general and forensic mental health) and forensic risk assessment frameworks into your clinical practiceA caring nature and commitment to prisoner rehabilitation, including completing risk assessments, delivering individual therapeutic counselling, and preparing defendable documentationThe highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviourSolid understanding of evidence-based practices in the assessment and intervention of diverse psychological and behavioural presentationsKnowledge of social and clinical variables associated with significant offense categories is desirableDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing psychological services and programs
Qualifications And Professional Registration
Professional registration with AHPRA as a Psychologist (provisional through senior registration levels)Postgraduate experience delivering individual counselling, ideally within correctional, welfare, or institutional settings, is highly regarded
