About this opportunity
This position is required to provide specialist knowledge and advice of a multi-disciplinary nature on town planning issues and related issues within established Council policies and guidelines. Duties include processing major development applications and making appropriate recommendations, liaising with and supervising other town planning officers and technical staff, and providing advice to other departments on Town Planning issues. The position is based in Beaudesert, but you may be required to work from any of Council's offices (Boonah and Tamborine Mountain) or facilities within the Scenic Rim.

* Exercise supervisory control for the development assessment team to ensure that programs, reports and site assessments are undertaken in a professional and timely manner.
* Work as a senior member of a highly effective and motivated multi‑disciplinary team responsible for the delivery of functions associated with the assessment of development applications.
* Undertake specialised functions including the assessment of complex major development applications.
* Responsible for the processing of Applications, including major developments under the Planning Act 2016, assessing development applications including referral to State Government Departments and other Council Departments, negotiating outcomes and making recommendations.
* Develop strategies in the area of planning that integrate with the broader framework of Council initiatives and action, and which provide high quality outcomes for the Region and its residents.
About you…
* Tertiary Qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or equivalent recognised by the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA).
* Urban and Regional Planning postgraduate qualifications and / or extensive experience.
* Well‑developed interpersonal, computer literacy, problem solving, time management, delegation, report writing, negotiation, research and coordinating skills.
* Proven ability to provide expert guidance in a dynamic and politically sensitive environment.
* Ability to provide constructive feedback and critical evaluation of successes and failures.
