Tasmanian Quality Meats is a family-owned business operating in Northern Tasmania. We have been in the meat processing industry for over 20 years and provide our award-winning products to local Australian suppliers and overseas markets. We are nationally recognised as the leading provider of top-quality Tasmanian lamb products.

We have a well-established site that has recently undergone multiple expansions and upgrades to become a state-of-the-art processing facility. These new facilities provide our workers with the comfort of developing long-term careers in a great working environment.

The Job:

Tasmanian Quality Meats has a vacancy to fill for a full time Safety Manager.

Key responsibilities of the role:

* Assist in implementing and maintaining on-site early intervention and workplace rehabilitation procedures aimed at minimising impacts on employees and the organisation.

* Lead the development and implementation of strategies for enabling a high performing health and safety culture aimed at achieving zero harm in the workplace

* Engage frontline staff and managers to embed work health and safety strategies and build a positive safety culture

* Partner with department managers to provide advice and support to understand both their safe workplace obligations and the frameworks, tools and legislation to support them and their teams to mitigate physical and psychological risks.

* Regularly review incident and claims data to identify trends or issues within the organisation

* Develop strategies based on incident and claims data trends to manage organisation wide risks

* Provide accurate and timely reports to the senior managers and executive measuring performance against KPIs such as incident trends, reducing injuries and education

* Ensure the business is complying with current WHS legislation and regulations.

* Assist in the implementation and continual improvement of WHS & rehabilitation programs, policies, procedures to ensure proactive regulatory and statutory compliance

* Administer and manage the safety management system

Requirements for the role:

* Recognised qualifications in Work Health Safety (WHS) and/or significant high-level experience in this specialist area

* Demonstrated experience in apply the principles of WHS legislation, WHS Regulations and Codes of Practice

* Demonstrated abilities in implementing work, health and safety strategies and initiatives to positively influence and drive outcomes across an organisation

* Excellent organisational skills and demonstrated ability to effectively manage time in order to prioritise competing demands
