Our client, is a not-for-profit provider of disability services in the west Gippsland region. They are a registered NDIS provider delivering quality, person-centred supports that enable people with disability to maximise independence, inclusion, and social connection through individually tailored programs.

Our client is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead their day-to-day operations and provide strong financial and operational leadership to its Committee of Management. This role is being recruited at an important time for the organisation and will play a key part in stabilising operations, strengthening financial and operational discipline, and supporting a planned merger, partnership, or organisational transition process over the next 12 to 18 months.

Key responsibilities

• Lead safe, high-quality, person-centred service delivery across sites (disability services, community activities, and social enterprise operations).
• Oversee operational systems, staffing structures, and continuous improvement to support effective service delivery.
• Manage budgets, cash flow, and financial performance; provide timely and practical reporting to the Committee of Management.
• Ensure strong governance support, compliance (including NDIS obligations), audit readiness, and risk management.
• Lead, develop, and support managers and staff; foster a culture of integrity, inclusion, accountability, safety, and respect.
• Build constructive relationships with participants, families, staff, community partners, funders, regulators, and other stakeholders.
• Support the Committee of Management through transition activity, including due diligence readiness, service continuity planning, and implementation of approved change.

What we’re looking for

To be successful, you will bring:

• Values-based leadership and a strong commitment to person-centred service delivery.
• Proven experience leading operations in a regulated, service-focused, and budget-conscious environment.
• Strong business and financial literacy (budget management, performance monitoring, responding to financial pressure).
• Sound understanding of governance, compliance, risk management, and reporting obligations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear reports for a governing body.
• Demonstrated ability to lead people, manage performance, and build a constructive workplace culture.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
• A practical, hands-on leadership style, with the ability to contribute to organisational planning and lead through change.
Desirable: experience in disability services/for-purpose sector, understanding of the NDIS, and experience supporting organisational transformation, merger activity, restructure, or major operational change.

Qualifications and requirements

Relevant tertiary qualifications in management, business, social sciences, community services, or a related field are desirable. Equivalent leadership experience in a medium-sized disability, community, or not-for-profit setting will also be considered.

• Relevant worker screening checks for the sectors in which our client operates.
• Current Victorian driver licence.
• Willingness to work across sites and undertake occasional out-of-hours work.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior leadership role with real impact, while being supported by a committed Committee of Management. This is a fixed term 12 month contract with option to extend by a further 6-12 months.
