**About the Position**
The ALS Central procurement department in Stafford is seeking a Buyer / Procurement Specialist to join a team that strives to exceed client expectations by delivering quality results on time. Working with a team of highly professional personnel, and reporting to the Procurement Manager, this position includes national & international purchasing, strategic procurement and logistics support for ALS global operations with the main focus on Australian operations.

The successful applicant will be a team player, with the ability to work autonomously with minimum supervision. It is envisaged that this person will be a self-starter who can learn the business requirements from the ground up and who will actively seek to further their knowledge in procurement and in the scientific/industrial services industry to better service the business.

This position is open for an enthusiastic Procurement / supply chain professional, with a drive for excellence, attention to detail and a commitment to the Procurement profession.

Specific duties will include:

- Interacting with key stakeholders in identifying business needs and building relationships
- Sourcing and selecting qualified suppliers, vendor selection, management and performance
- RFQ & negotiation including negotiating best possible price, payment terms, and delivery schedules
- Review and negotiate contracts with suppliers to produce better savings and further value for spend while identifying supplier risks.
- Prepare summaries and present results of strategic sourcing initiatives
- Data analysis, decision making and presentation
- Maintain positive working relationships with strategic suppliers to assure cost, quality, and delivery targets are met
- Measuring & managing supplier performance (price, delivery, and quality)
- Developing and leading new supply sources (Advanced Sourcing, Dual Sourcing) while supporting daily responsibilities
- Interfacing positively with internal cross-functional organizations and suppliers
- Review suppliers, works and services to ensure compliance with company procedures and best procurement practice
- Purchase Order terms negotiations and follow-up
- Supporting other initiatives/activities as directed by senior management

**About you**
Applicants should possess the following attributes and experience:

- Required: Bachelor's degree
- Preferred: Degree in Business, Economics, Law, Supply Chain, or related area or a professional Supply Chain Management Qualification such as MCIPS, APICS, CPSM, CSCMP (or in Progress)
- 2-5 years of procurement experience in a manufacturing setting including ERP system
- Advanced knowledge and skills with internet, data entry, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience in ERP systems and cloud-based sourcing (preferred), experience in Pronto or Oracle will be an advantage
- Working knowledge of the full cycle procurement process
- Ability to be accurate, responsive, follow-through, multi-task, and meticulous attention to detail are essential
- Ability to be team-oriented as well as work independently, results-driven, positive attitude, and be active with the entire procurement process
- Ability to organize workload efficiently, meet tight timelines, problem solve effectively, and perform duties accurately with input and follow-up from management
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, while ensuring supply continuity and procurement compliance
- Ability to drive and lead along with using processes to build and improve work processes
- Comfortable and effective in interacting with all areas and levels of the organization to drive organizational goals and objectives
- Possess strong customer service and support skills
- Demonstrated prioritising and follow-up abilities
- Strong verbal and written skills
- Willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
