FDV Support Worker
Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services Industry Award; Level 3
Permanent Part time
Weekends: 9am to 3:30pm, Evenings 2pm to 8:30pm and some days shifts if needed
Key Objectives:
•To increase the capacity of women and children who have experience domestic and family violence to live safely and independently in the community.
•Coordinate the facilitation of group programs and informal counselling that integrates with Indigo Junction to achieve positive outcomes for clients
•To support clients who have experience trauma to heal through the delivery of recognised trauma-informed, therapeutic responses.
•To ensure clients are safe, support and increase their knowledge of confidence to reduce the likelihood of future crises.
•To ensure client outcomes are optimsed through participation in coordinated interagency responses.

Selection Criteria:
Qualifications and/or training and/or licences:
•A tertiary qualification in a relevant human services area and at least 3 years appropriate experience; or demonstrate equivalent.
Experience and knowledge:
•Sound understanding of the principles of Trauma Informed Care.
•Knowledge and experience of intervention work and case management with women and children experiencing domestic and family violence.
•Ability to development networks and advocate strongly on behalf of clients and their children in domestic and family violence situations.
•A commitment to the notion of empowerment and self-determination.
•Experience in a case management approach with an understanding of professional boundaries in relation to client work.
•Experience in providing advocacy and referral.
•Knowledge of community and government resources available to family and ability to work collaboratively with them.
•Demonstrated ability to work with people from culturally diverse backgrounds.

Training and/or Licences and/or clearances:
•Current ‘C’ class driver’s licence.
•Current National Police Clearance.
•Working With Children Clearance.
•First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
