What is our Staff Development Nurse role?
This role, under the direction of the relevant Senior Registered Nurse(s), practises as a Staff Development Nurse in keeping with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board Registration Standards and Nursing Practice Decision Flowchart. The role includes ongoing assessment of the knowledge and skills of nursing staff in designated ward/unit; planning and implementation of education and training programs and participation in the planning and implementation of hospital-wide Staff Development programs; provision of support for new staff, including orientation, coaching and preceptorship; provides clinical knowledge and expertise within the clinical areas; upholds and functions within the core values of the organisation and nursing values of Care, Respect, Innovation, Teamwork & Integrity.

Area Profile
Ward G63 is a 30-bed inpatient unit providing comprehensive care for patients with a diverse range of acute and chronic conditions across the specialties of renal medicine, hepatology, gastroenterology, and general surgery. The ward delivers a combination of acute medical, surgical, and high complexity specialty care, supporting patients through both planned and emergency presentations. Ward G63 holds a significant statewide role, providing the state-wide liver transplant service and performing the majority of kidney transplants within Western Australia. This positions the ward as a leading centre for complex transplant care, supporting patients across the full continuum from pre-transplant optimisation to postoperative recovery and long-term management.
