Role
The firm offers a rewarding opportunity for a junior lawyer to join the Restructuring & Insolvency (R&I) team in Sydney on a 12‐month contract. This back‐end R&I role involves formal insolvency appointment advisory work and significant R&I litigation in the Supreme and Federal Courts, including a complex commercial litigation matter in the Supreme Court of New South Wales.
Working closely with partner Maria O'Brien and senior practitioners, you will develop both legal and client‐relationship skills within a tier‐1 R&I and Disputes practice.
Responsibilities
The primary duties include:
* Providing advisory support on formal insolvency appointments.
* Participating in R&I litigation, including advocacy and documentation in the Supreme and Federal Courts.
* Collaborating with the broader Disputes group on complex commercial litigation matters.
* Drafting high‐quality, technically sound pleadings, submissions and other court documents.
Qualifications
* 1–4 years PQE as a lawyer with strong academic performance.
* Commercial litigation experience, preferably within a leading commercial law firm.
* Exposure to R&I litigation is ideal but not essential.
* Familiarity with Relativity or similar e‐discovery platforms.
* Excellent drafting skills and meticulous attention to detail.
* Strong communication skills and a positive, team‐oriented mindset.
* Proactive client‐service approach and strong time and project‐management skills.
