Jacobs is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Cities and Places Team, with a primary focus on Data Centre projects. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead by example, delivering advanced facilities projects for both internal and external clients.
About The Role
As a Senior Associate Mechanical Engineer, you will work closely with Project Managers, Design Managers, and other Discipline Leads to drive innovation, ensure outstanding digital delivery, and achieve client satisfaction and commercial targets. You will build relationships that support successful Global Integrated Delivery for our clients and team members. Additionally, you will engage with valued clients, assist with bids, and serve as a visible leader in your discipline.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the delivery of complex Mechanical Services design and consultancy projects, as well as Mechanical elements within larger projects and multidisciplinary design teams.
* Collaborate closely with project teams through meetings, workshops, coordination sessions, and regular communication.
* Provide mentorship and guidance to discipline team members, fostering their development.
* Support repeat work‑winning by maintaining strong client relationships, delivering successful projects, and contributing to bids and proposals.
* Focus on projects and pursuits within the Advanced Facilities sector, while also supporting other sectors as needed.
What you'll need
* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, along with applicable registrations.
* Extensive knowledge and expertise in the Mechanical discipline, with a broad understanding of related disciplines.
* Proficiency in relevant Building Services codes, standards, and legislation, particularly within the Advanced Facilities sector.
* Strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to consider multiple perspectives and collaborate to find solutions.
* Experience leading and taking accountability for projects and pursuits, as well as for discipline contributions within broader projects.
* Ability to work independently and provide guidance on complex issues.
* Proven ability to deliver projects on or under budget, demonstrating resourcefulness and ownership.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a proven track record of forming and maintaining strong client relationships.
