A Glimpse into Our Community
Campuses: Derrimut Heath Campus (P‑6) in Hoppers Crossing and Tarneit Campus (P‑9) on Baden Powell Drive – serving students from prep to year nine.
Staffing Profile: College Principal, Assistant Principals, Lead Teachers, Learning Specialists, Mental Health Practitioner, Counsellor – over 100 staff in total.
Enrolment: In 2024 we served over 800 students representing a diverse tapestry of cultures and abilities.
Selection Criteria
* SC1: Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including literacy and numeracy instruction, and experience responding to student learning needs.
* SC2: Demonstrated experience in planning, implementing high‑impact teaching strategies, and evaluating their impact on student growth.
* SC3: Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning, using data to inform practice, and providing feedback to students and parents.
* SC4: Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, with experience establishing collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader school community.
* SC5: Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values, and a commitment to reflecting on practice and engaging in professional learning.
Role
The classroom teacher classification includes two salary ranges: Range 1 and Range 2. The primary focus is on planning, preparing, and teaching programs to achieve specific student outcomes, while engaging in critical reflection and inquiry to improve knowledge and skills.
As teachers gain experience, their contribution beyond the classroom grows. Teachers may be required to undertake additional duties that are appropriate to the salary range, qualifications, training, and experience.
Classroom Teacher – Range 2
Range 2 teachers play a significant role in improving student performance and educational outcomes, contributing to the development and implementation of school policies and priorities.
* Possess the content knowledge and pedagogical practice to meet the diverse needs of all students.
* Model exemplary classroom practice and mentor/coach other teachers in critical reflection of their practice.
* Provide expert advice on content, processes, and strategies that shape professional learning.
* Supervise and train one or more student teachers.
* Assist staff in using student data to inform teaching approaches to achieve learning outcome targets.
Classroom Teacher – Range 1
Range 1 teachers focus on developing skills and competencies to become effective classroom practitioners under the guidance of higher‑level teachers. They manage classroom content and practice, participate in policy development, and may oversee student teachers.
Responsibilities
* Direct teaching of student groups and individual students.
* Contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum areas.
* Undertaking other teaching‑related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal.
* Participating in parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps, and excursions.
* Executing non‑teaching supervisory duties.
Who May Apply
Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or with demonstrated experience in the specified curriculum area(s).

Qualification Requirements
To be eligible for employment, transfer or promotion in the principal or teacher class:
* Provisional or full registration approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
* If completed an Australian postgraduate level initial teaching program on or after 1 January 2024, demonstrate completion of an accredited initial teacher education program.
* If graduated from a Victorian ITE program after 1 July 2016, demonstrate passing the literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE).
