Clinical Support Officer – Nursing Skills Laboratory
AMA College is the Registered Training Organisation of the Australian Medical Association (WA), supporting domestic and international students through a broad range of qualifications.
Location: Joondalup, WA.
About the role
You will support our clinical staff in the set up and running of the simulated ward to ensure classes are prepared and set up with the requirements of the learning plan for that particular session. You will also be responsible for maintenance and updating of the stock register to ensure each lesson is appropriately resourced, and liaise with the Head of Discipline in identifying the ongoing requirements for the procurement of equipment within the ward.
Duties / Responsibilities
* Under general supervision, assist in providing services offered through the nursing Skills Laboratory and nursing simulation.
* Prepare required equipment for skills labs, supplies, manikins, and perform related duties as required by the Head of Discipline.
* Evaluate laboratory and simulation equipment functioning and report issues of wear and tear, safety, and malfunction to the Head of Discipline.
* Maintain records of all holdings in the Nursing Skills Laboratories.
* Order consumables, supplies, and equipment for the skills/simulation laboratories.
* Assist with the preparation of clinical files, task trainers and all associated resources for each session under the guidance of the Head of Discipline.
* Participate in College meetings as needed.
* Support the Diploma of Nursing team as directed from time to time.
* Obtain quotes and information for the procurement of clinical equipment under the supervision of the Head of Discipline.
Essential to the role
* Attention to detail and a 'can do' attitude.
* Physical tasks such as moving manikins and lab equipment are a requirement.
* Knowledge of medical terminology or experience in healthcare is an advantage but not essential.
* Excellent organisational skills.
* Ability to think critically, troubleshoot and take action to resolve issues.
* Ability to work under own initiative.
* Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills, including a capacity to work collaboratively.
* Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel.
* Reliable, punctual and dependable.
* Customer experience focused and quality driven.
* Ingenuity and attention to detail for simulating the intricacies of the clinical environment.
