Our Deflector Mine Site will transition to Owner-Operator in mid-November, and we are seeking a Mobile Maintenance Leading Hand.

Deflector Operation consists of two high-grade, narrow vein Gold/Copper mines, located 160 km east of Geraldton. The ore is contained in a series of structurally complex lodes, namely the Deflector and Deflector Southwest deposits.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Mobile Maintenance Leading Hand plays a key leadership role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the maintenance team. This role ensures underground and surface mobile mechanical equipment is maintained at a high level of availability while promoting safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
This position will be offered on an 8:6; 7:7 FIFO roster from Perth or DIDO from Geraldton; this position will include day and night shifts.
Key responsibilities of this position will include:
* Support the Maintenance Supervisor in leading the maintenance team to meet production and safety objectives
* Act as a Supervisor in their absence, providing direction and leadership to the crew
* Ensure plant and equipment are maintained to a high level of availability
* Plan daily tasks in coordination with the Maintenance Supervisor to minimise downtime
* Liaise with Supervisors to coordinate equipment repairs and maintenance
* Raise purchase and work orders to ensure the availability of required parts and equipment
* Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and incident investigations
* Identify and implement efficiency improvements and cost-saving opportunities
* Maintain maintenance facilities and ensure equipment is in good working order
* Communicate job progress and delays to the Maintenance Supervisor
* Attend and actively participate in shift change meetings and provide accurate handover notes
* Assist with other maintenance tasks as directed as this is a hands-on position
About You / Qualifications
* Mechanical Trade Qualification (Mechanical Fitter)
* Minimum 5+ years post-trade experience in a mine site environment
* High level of experience with general fitting activities in a gold/copper mineral processing plant
* Our fleet will consist of Sandvik jumbos and longhole drills, Epiroc underground trucks, CAT boggers and graders, and a Volvo IT loader
* Proven history in managing performance and instilling accountability (highly regarded)
* Excellent crusher maintenance experience, particularly with Metso crushers
* Experience in maintaining filter presses and flotation systems
* Strong fault-finding skills with pumps and hydraulic systems
* Experience with Microsoft Office and computer-based maintenance systems (ideally Pronto)
* WA Manual Driver's Licence (C-Class)
* Hold Confined Space Entry and Working at Heights
* Gas Testing
* High Risk Work Licences (BR, LF, EWP)
