About the role
Join our Kooragang Island site as a Senior Reliability Engineer - Instrumentation & Control, where you'll play a key role in improving the performance, safety, and reliability of critical manufacturing systems.
This is a hands‐on, site-based role working across instrumentation, control systems, and functional safety. You'll collaborate with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to solve complex problems and drive continuous improvement in a high‐performing plant environment.
What you will be doing
Support, optimisation and modernisation of control and shutdown systems (DCS/SIS) and plant instrumentation;
Investigate and resolve complex reliability and system issues;
Partner with maintenance and operations to improve plant performance;
Drive alarm management, system improvements and reliability initiatives;
Contribute to safety outcomes through investigations, hazard reviews, and management of the site's Instrumented Functional Safety Management System;
Support projects, system upgrades, contractor coordination, and develop toward becoming the site Responsible Engineer for Instrumented Functional Safety.
What you will bring
Engineering background (e.g. instrumentation, electrical, mechatronics, chemical, process or similar).
Candidates with Functional Safety Engineer certification are highly preferred;
Experience with industrial control systems (DCS/PLC/SCADA) and/or safety systems;
Strong Instrumented Functional Safety experience in continuous operations plants;
Exposure to process or manufacturing environments, with a practical, hands‐on problem‐solving approach;
Ability to work collaboratively across different teams on site.
