ABOUT US
Gateway Health is a community health service providing health and welfare services to individuals, families and communities across Northeast Victoria and parts of Southern New South Wales. We are a not-for-profit Company limited by guarantee and a registered Community Health Service under the Health Services Act 1988 (Vic).
The organisation employs over 380 staff providing a range of primary health and community services across the Ovens Murray region in Northeast Victoria and parts of Southern New South Wales. Gateway Health serves all people and is committed to improving individual and population health outcomes. We do this by providing health care and support to individuals and communities in times of need, and by actively working with our partners to address the social and environmental determinants of health.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Sexual and Reproductive Health Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering inclusive, evidence-based clinical care and health education through Clinic 35, Gateway Health's dedicated sexual and reproductive health service.
Working within a nurse-led model and supported by General Practitioners, you'll provide confidential, person-centred care focused on STI/BBV screening, reproductive health, contraception, and cervical screening. You will engage with under-screened populations and vulnerable groups in Wangaratta and surrounding communities to promote equitable access to care.
In addition to clinical service delivery, you will contribute to health promotion, community education, and strengthening the sexual and reproductive health literacy of the region. This is a meaningful opportunity to work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team committed to improving the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities across Northeast Victoria.
ABOUT YOU
You are a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse with at least three years of post-registration experience and a passion for delivering high-quality, inclusive sexual and reproductive health care. You bring sound clinical judgment, a commitment to evidence-based practice, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Your strengths lie in building trusting relationships, particularly with clients from underrepresented or high-risk groups, and you understand the importance of confidentiality, cultural safety, and trauma-informed care. You're also confident in health promotion, client education, and advocacy, and are motivated to stay current with public health guidelines, sexual health strategies, and emerging best practice.
Qualifications or interest in cervical screening, Implanon insertion, and additional sexual and reproductive health training will be highly regarded. Most importantly, you're someone who thrives in a values-driven organisation where person-centred care, innovation, and community wellbeing are at the heart of everything you do.
