Pengelly Trucks and Trailers – Toowoomba QLD
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will oversee all financial operations of the Group entities that include a truck dealership, a hire business, spare parts businesses and property portfolio ensuring profitability, compliance, and sustainable growth.
This role requires deep understanding of automotive dealership financial structures, fleet hire operations, and asset management.
The CFO will provide strategic leadership in financial planning, risk management, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership
Develop financial strategies to optimise dealership sales and hire revenue streams.
Advise and provide guidance to the leadership on financial performance, market trends, and investment opportunities.
Drive cost efficiency while maintaining service quality and fleet availability.
Financial Planning & Analysis
Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and financial models tailored to dealership, hire operations and parts businesses.
Formulate and monitor entity specific KPIs.
Analyze profitability of truck sales, leasing, and maintenance services.
Risk & Compliance
Ensure compliance with automotive dealership regulations, accounting standards, tax and BAS obligations.
Manage credit risk for truck financing and hire agreements.
Ensure all banking covenants are met.
Implement internal controls for cash flow, inventory, and asset management.
Capital & Asset Management
Oversee financing arrangements for truck purchases and fleet expansion.
Manage depreciation schedules and optimize asset lifecycle for trucks and equipment.
Negotiate with banks, lenders, and leasing companies for favorable terms.
Reporting
Maintain accurate and up to date set of accounts.
Deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Provide detailed analysis of each individual entity's profitability.
Maintain transparent reporting for stakeholders.
Team Leadership
Lead and mentor finance team, ensuring strong dealership accounting practices.
Manage and mentor a finance team of 4-8 people with strong leadership capabilities.
Collaborate with sales, operations, and service departments to align financial goals.
Identify and Implement Improvements and Efficiencies.
Qualifications & Skills
CPA or CA professional accounting qualification required.
Minimum 3-5 years of CFO or senior finance leadership experience required.
Auto-IT software experience preferred.
Prior experience working with ERP solutions.
Knowledge of Accounting and Business Practices within a Logistics/Automotive Dealership Environment.
Advanced Excel skills.
Exceptional People and Communication skills.
