Overview

The Royal Hobart Hospital and Department of Health is seeking suitably qualified applicants for a Staff Specialist Nuclear Medicine vacancy. In accordance with hospital policies, procedures and statutory regulations, the Staff Specialist - Nuclear Medicine will:

* Hold specialist registration and has Australian credentialling in Nuclear Medicine, Therapy and PET
* Provide clinical services of the highest possible standard to Nuclear Medicine patients
* Actively pursue improved outcomes for Nuclear Medicine patients by participating in teaching and research relevant to Nuclear Medicine
* Be involved in multidisciplinary meetings

The Role

Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania's largest hospital and major referral centre. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH collaborates with the University of Tasmania and other institutions. Nuclear Medicine at the RHH is part of the medical imaging department. We are equipped with current dual and single headed gamma cameras as well as a dedicated CZT cardiac SPECT scanner. Our PET/CT scanner is a digital GE Discovery MI gen 2.

Responsibilities

* Provides clinical services incorporating principles of best practice
* Provides services in the activities of the Department as agreed with the Clinical Director and other Staff Specialists
* Establishes and oversees activities to review resource utilisation and develop appropriate strategies, plans and procedures for their efficient and effective use
* Encourages and facilitates teaching and research appropriate to the role of the Department
* Ensures WH&S practices and standards are implemented and maintained
* Ensures development, implementation and maintenance of performance management systems to support ongoing development of individual and team performance
* Ensures a system of continuous quality improvement that evaluates, identifies opportunities for improvement and plans to meet customer needs
* Active participation in Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including safety systems and training
* Duty allocations may include tasks not specifically mentioned but within the capacity and experience of the classification level

Qualifications & Essential Requirements

* Holds specialist registration; or
* Registered Medical Practitioner on the specialist pathway (IMG) or with a recognised overseas specialist qualification
* Pre-employment checks including conviction checks, identification check and disciplinary action checks

Desirable

* Eligible for registration as a Specialist in Nuclear Medicine

Details of Appointment

Permanent part-time day work (with on-call), 30.4 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Salary & Benefits

Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Award. Base salary points range from $216,300 to $296,640 with additional allowances where applicable. Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range may apply subject to criteria. Other benefits include salary packaging, CPD allowance, on-call allowance, and other entitlements as per the current Award.
