SURLY'S BBQ & SPORTS BAR IS COMING TO NEWCASTLE

Surly's is expanding

After more than 10 years operating as one of Sydney's most recognisable venues, we're prepping to bring American BBQ, a dive bar atmosphere, and loud and live sports culture to Newcastle - and we're looking for a founding team.

Surly's Newcastle is currently in pre-opening phase, with a planned 2026 launch. We are building our leadership and core team ahead of opening to ensure we launch strong and build a great culture and identity early.

Surly's will be the perfect work environment for fans of:

This is not just another job. We are looking for people who want to help build something with solid foundations from day one.

ROLES WE ARE HIRING:

Venue Manager (Full time Position)

Lead from the front. Build culture. Drive performance.

We're looking for a hands-on operator who understands labour control, guest experience and building a high-performing team.

Head Chef (Full time Position)

Own the kitchen. Shape the systems. Lead the brigade.

Experience in high-volume kitchens essential. BBQ and smoked meat experience highly regarded.

Sous Chef (Full time Position)

Second in command. Service focused. Structured. Reliable.

Support the Head Chef and help deliver consistency every service.

Front of House Team (Casual and perm positions will be considered)

Bartenders, floor staff and supervisors.

We want confident personalities who can handle pace and genuinely engage with guests.

Back of House Team (Casual and perm positions will be considered)

Line cooks, prep chefs and kitchen hands.

Reliability, pride and work ethic are non-negotiable.
