About the Role:
As a Disability Support Worker with Canaan Care Services, you will play a vital role in providing personalized support to individuals with disabilities in various settings, including residential homes, community settings, and day programs. Your responsibilities will include assisting clients with daily activities, fostering independence, promoting social inclusion, and ensuring their safety and well-being. You will work closely with clients, their families, and a multidisciplinary team to implement individualized care plans and support strategies.
About You:
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of others. You should possess excellent communication skills, empathy, and a genuine desire to empower individuals with disabilities to achieve their goals. Previous experience in disability support or a related field is desirable but not essential, as we provide comprehensive training and ongoing support to all our team members.
Essential Requirements:
* A genuine passion for working with individuals with disabilities
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
* Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and evenings
* Willingness to undergo relevant background checks and obtain necessary certifications
Before you commence, you will need:
* Current First Aid and CPR certificates
* A Blue Card (Working with Children Card)
* An NDIS Worker Screening Check (Working with Individuals with Disabilities, formerly a Yellow Card)
* Police check
* Commitment to infection prevention and control measures including the use of PPE as directed
* Personal car, valid Australian license, comprehensive car insurance
* A smartphone with an iOS 13.0 and up operating system or an Android 6.0 and up operating system
