Job Overview
WALGA is seeking a Road Safety Advisor to join our RoadWise team and implement national and state road safety objectives through the principles of health promotion. Based either in the Midwest/Gascoyne region or our West Leederville office, you will build positive relationships with regional communities and support road safety plans that reduce serious road trauma.
Key Responsibilities
* Engage regularly with RoadWise Councils to guide planning, delivery, monitoring and communication of local road safety actions.
* Provide advice on evidence‐based and safe system practices to strengthen Councils' approaches.
* Develop and review quarterly work plans and participate in monthly progress meetings.
* Prepare reports, correspondence, articles and case studies tailored to a range of audiences.
* Build and maintain relationships with local governments, regional partners and stakeholders to identify barriers, share insights, and promote better practice road safety.
* Represent WALGA at regional forums, committees and working groups, sharing updates and insights.
Impact
Relationships are central to this role. You will connect with Councils, provide tailored support, and guide them through adopting evidence‐based approaches aligned with national and state road safety objectives. Your research and analytical skills will source credible, evidence‐informed insights that help local governments develop holistic and sustainable road safety approaches. By promoting and showcasing the successful initiatives of RoadWise Councils, you will inspire innovation and celebrate achievements across the sector.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Strong knowledge of local government operations, the WA road safety strategy, and public health principles.
* Valid "C" class driver's license and willingness to travel.
* Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
* Experience in evidence‐based public health or road safety initiatives is preferred.
