Job Title: Executive Culinary Director
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Chef to join our team in a busy Mexican restaurant located in Ballarat. The successful candidate will have a passion for delivering high-quality culinary experiences, managing kitchen teams, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and guide the kitchen team to deliver excellent results through strategic planning and effective leadership.
* Assist in hiring and training new cooks and kitchen staff by identifying talent, developing skills, and promoting career growth.
* Supervise meal preparation and manage kitchen consumables and stock control by optimizing inventory, minimizing waste, and maintaining quality standards.
* Develop and introduce new menu items in consultation with management by conducting market research, analyzing trends, and creating innovative dishes that meet customer expectations.
* Ensure strict compliance with OH&S and Food Safety standards by implementing best practices, monitoring progress, and addressing any issues promptly.
About You:
To be considered for this role, you must have:
* A strong background in hospitality and experience in Mexican cuisine (or similar), demonstrating your ability to adapt to diverse cultural and culinary environments.
* Excellent relevant post-secondary qualifications (Diploma level or higher) and at least three years' experience as a professional Chef, showcasing your expertise and leadership skills.
* Proven ability to prioritize tasks, set goals, and work under pressure, highlighting your flexibility and resilience in fast-paced environments.
* Strong people management skills and an empathetic approach to working with others, emphasizing your ability to build trust, motivate teams, and foster positive relationships.
