Head Chef – Mediterranean Bar and Bistro by the Beach
Are you ready for a sea change? A brand-new, 50-seat wine-focused bar and bistro just 100 metres from the beach in beautiful Sawtell, NSW, is looking for a passionate and creative Head Chef to lead our kitchen.
About Us:
We're launching a vibrant Mediterranean-style bistro with a focus on high-quality, seasonal produce and a thoughtfully curated wine list. Think coastal breezes, relaxed atmosphere, and a small + large plate menu perfect for sharing and savouring. To begin, we'll be open four evenings a week and one lunch service, catering to locals and visitors who appreciate great food, fine wine, and seaside charm.
The Role:
We're looking for a full-time Head Chef to design and execute a fresh, vibrant Mediterranean-inspired menu. This is your opportunity to take creative control and help shape the culinary identity of a brand-new concept at a highly regarded venue. You’ll be working closely with ownership to create a dining experience that’s both accessible and exceptional.
About You:
Minimum of 5 years post-apprenticeship experience in professional kitchens
Solid background working in quality restaurants, with bistro or Mediterranean experience a bonus
Deep understanding of food and wine pairing
Strong leadership skills and a hands-on approach to kitchen management
Passionate about produce, wine, and delivering consistently high standards
Excited for a fresh start in one of the East Coast’s most picturesque seaside towns
Starting Service Hours:
Four evening services and one lunch service per week, from early August (we hope to commence this role in mid-late July).
No breakfast or split shifts – enjoy balance (and beach time).
Location: Sawtell, NSW – a coastal gem with surf, community spirit, and plenty of charm.
