Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Policy Officer to join our team in the AFP Strategy and Performance Office.
This is an exciting opportunity for experienced professionals to work on strategic issues, legislative reform, new policy proposals, parliamentary inquiries, ministerial engagement, Cabinet processes and other complex crime types.
Key Responsibilities:
* Engage with internal stakeholders to build an understanding of their operating environment and develop an AFP position on emerging policy issues.
* Draft and consult on core policy documents, including submissions to parliamentary inquiries, question time briefs, senate estimates briefs and new policy proposals.
* Support Senior Executives by drafting talking points and meeting briefs.
* Review policy documents and determine AFP equities and positions.
A key aspect of this role is working with internal teams on serious and complex crime types, such as terrorism, foreign interference and espionage, transnational, serious and organised crime, economic crime, cyber crime, online child exploitation and human trafficking.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will have contemporary knowledge and experience in government policy roles or similar.
Demonstrated ability to lead a team and engage with internal stakeholders is essential for this role.
Requirements:
* Australian Citizenship at the time of application.
* Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
