Role Description
Siena College is seeking to appoint a Bass Guitar Teacher to teach private and small group lessons. This casual position commences in Term 1, 2026. The current enrolment projection is approximately 5 hours per week, depending on new enrolments and applicant availability, with the possibility of an additional ensemble role depending on prior experience. The ability to teach Double Bass is desirable. Working within the Siena College Music Department, the Bass Guitar Teacher will be part of a team of instrumental specialists.
Responsibilities
- Teach junior and intermediate bass guitar students through to VCE Music
- Direct ensembles and plan/arrange appropriate programs of repertoire
- Develop students’ musical understanding through the study of repertoire
- Inspire students’ long‑term participation in our instrumental and ensemble programs
- Prepare students for solo and small group performance opportunities
- Assist with basic instrument maintenance and record‑keeping
- Assist with various concerts and events throughout the year
Qualifications & Requirements
- VIT Teacher Registration or a Working with Children Check and National Police check required before commencing the position
- Experience in teaching Bass Guitar (and Double Bass desirable)
- Solid communication and student engagement skills
