Registered Nurse - Palliative/Oncology WardApply now Job no: 502912Work type: PermanentLocation: MackayCategories: Registered Nurse/MidwifeAbout the roleMater Private Hospital Mackay is currently seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Palliative Care/Oncology Ward on a permanent, full-time or part-time basis.Mater Private Hospital Mackay nursing team provides the highest level of specialist care to patients, their families, carers, and visitors.Our team of industry professionals work together as a cohesive and collaborative unit, going above and beyond to provide an exceptional level of care and deliver the highest level of clinical standards for the patient and the unit.Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, our Registered Nurses make up a vital and respected part of the nursing team at Mater.Key duties and responsibilities will include:Managing all aspects of palliative care from symptom and pain management, to end of life care.Utilising a structured approach carry out comprehensive and accurate nursing assessments of patientsCompleting PCOC assessmentsWithin scope of practice, implements planned evidence-based nursing interventionsDemonstrating exceptional clinical expertise and knowledge of procedures and the management of patients seeking outstanding careImplementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provisionMaintain and adhere to Infection Control policies and practicesComplies with organisational policies, procedures, work instructions and guidelinesAbout youYou will be driven by a challenging yet rewarding environment where you can bring your energy and experience to this dynamic ward.Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)Recent nursing experience including extensive experience within a medical ward settingExcellent interpersonal, communication and clinical problem-solving skillsDemonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary teamDemonstrated commitment to continued quality improvement and best practice principlesExperience with using CADD pumps & Syringe Drivers is desirableAn openness to undergoing palliative care training if needed.Mater is Queensland's largest not-for-profit healthcare provider, delivering exceptional care to nearly 700,000 patients each year across 11 (soon to be 12) hospitals.
