About the Role – Photographic Lab Assistant
We're on the lookout for a hands-on, detail-focused Photographic Lab Assistant to join our small but passionate production team. This is a great opportunity for someone who loves working with images, enjoys being part of a team, and takes pride in delivering top-quality results.
You'll be involved in every stage of the production process—from prepping files and operating printers, to finishing, framing, packing and shipping orders. You'll also play a key role in helping us maintain high standards of quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
* Preparing and processing incoming print jobs
* Operating a range of professional printers (photographic, fine art, dye-sublimation, etc.)
* Checking and ensuring colour accuracy and print quality
* Assisting with finishing tasks such as mounting, laminating, framing, trimming, and packaging
* Maintaining lab equipment and supplies
* Working with the production team to meet daily turn-around times
* Helping us deliver an outstanding customer experience through quality and care
What We're Looking For
Must-Haves:
* A genuine interest in photography, printing, or colour
* An eye for detail—especially when it comes to colour, finish, and consistency
* Familiarity with image file formats and basic digital image handling
* Ability to follow instructions and stay focused under time pressure
* Comfortable with physical work
* A proactive, team-oriented mindset
* Good communication skills and a commitment to great service—you understand that even behind the scenes, what we do directly impacts our customers' satisfaction
* Confident using computers and digital tools
Nice-to-Haves:
* Experience in photo or fine-art printing, darkroom work, or print finishing
* Skills in framing, mounting, or laminating
* Photoshop or photo editing experience
