About the roles
We're seeking Correctional Officers (COs) & Operations Support Officers (OSOs) with excellent communication and conflict resolution skills to join us at Mount Gambier Prison.
COs work directly with prisoners, and OSOs have minimal prisoner contact.
Our training program is comprehensive and includes training in standard operating procedures, self-defence, radio training, report writing, first aid & CPR, communication skills, incident response, x-ray and ion scan screening, fire training, and more.
Correctional Officers
Our Correctional Officers work directly with prisoners and play a critical role in prisoner case management, monitor their rehabilitation activities, conduct daily searches and counts, undertake security patrols, write case notes and prepare reports.
Rates – $ p/h during your training | $ p/h ($79,899 p.a.) first year after training | $ p/h ($81,965 p.a.) once fully accredited.
Roster – 12.5-hour shifts | Mix of weekdays, nights, weekends & public holidays.
Operations Support Officers
Our OSOs have minimal prisoner contact and conduct x-ray screening, search visitors upon entry, work in the prison property area, operate the prison control room, monitor CCTV and support key administrative prison functions.
Rate – $ p/h during your training | $ p/h ($75,067 p.a) once training is completed.
Roster – 8-hour to 12.5-hour shifts | Mix of weekdays, nights, weekends & public holidays.
What we're looking for
* Able to work a rotating 24/7 roster, including public holidays & weekends
* Holder of an Australian driver's licence
* Physically fit and able to pass a medical assessment
* Full Australian working rights
* Able to commence in July
