Position Overview
The Data Quality Engineer provides quality assurance for the Data Governance Organization. This role ensures that the workflows across warehousing, ETL and analysis services are robust, through test programs based on quality dimensions. The Data Quality Engineer works on cross functional projects to assess and improve data content quality. This role also is responsible for intra-system data mapping, business process mapping, and data asset requirements scoping. The Data Quality Engineer also assures that proper documentation is maintained in the code repositories, data catalog, and other data governance platforms.
Job Responsibilities
* Instill good QA practices and procedures within the data teams.
* Develop QA testing, metrics, and procedures with the data engineers.
* Identify data discrepancies and quality issues and collaborate with data stewards to ensure consistency and integrity through proper data lineage tracking and governance projects.
* Support agile SDLC processes.
* Support requirements gathering and business process mapping for cross functional projects.
* Support data mapping exercises and external data source ingestion.
* Work with business stakeholders, data engineers, and analysts to improve data catalog services, including metadata, glossary, lineage, descriptions, etc.
* Support data warehouse /data mart asset development and optimization.
* Support process monitoring tools for data pipelines.
* Develop and execute continuous improvement concepts.
* Support data warehouse access models and assist in troubleshooting performance issues.
* Support data governance, compliance, data privacy, and security initiatives.
* Work with end-users to understand needs and refine data services.
Qualifications And Skills
* Bachelor's degree in a related technical or business field.
* 5+ years of related work experience.
* Experience with the following technologies and methods:
o Data quality practices and principles
o Data warehousing and ETL services
o SQL scripting, navigating unstructured files, etc.
o Cloud providers such as AWS
o Data catalogs
* Excellent prioritization and problem-solving skills.
* High attention to detail and process.
* Skill in enhancing processes and optimizing efficiency to drive continuous improvement.
* Ability to take initiative, work independently, and proactively seek solutions without constant supervision.
* Excellent customer service skills.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills to drive efficiency and innovation within cross functional teams.
