About the role
We're offering a unique opportunity for a qualified electrician with industrial experience to step off the tools and develop into a Junior Estimator. Based in our Subiaco office, you'll work Monday–Friday as part of our estimating team, gaining hands-on experience in preparing tenders, cost estimates, and project planning across electrical, instrumentation and controls work.
This is a structured development role with a clear pathway, giving you the chance to learn the commercial and technical aspects of estimating while being supported by experienced professionals. You'll bring your trade knowledge and attention to detail, and in return we'll equip you with the skills to grow into a specialist estimator with long-term career opportunities.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
* Review and interpret tender documents to extract key project requirements
* Prepare detailed cost breakdowns for labour, materials, plant and equipment
* Carry out precise material take-offs from technical drawings
* Assess project risks and contribute value-engineering solutions
* Develop and maintain project schedules for electrical, instrumentation and controls activities
* Obtain and evaluate competitive supplier and subcontractor quotations
About you
* Trade-qualified electrician with 1–2 years post-trade experience in an industrial environment
* Strong understanding of electrical systems (LV)
* Comfortable reading and interpreting technical drawings and standards
* Confident with numbers, detail-oriented, and able to think analytically
* Proficient with computers, especially MS Excel
* Strong communicator who can build effective relationships with colleagues, suppliers, and clients
* Motivated to step away from the tools and develop a long-term career in estimating
