St Thomas More College is a Brisbane Catholic Education co‐educational secondary college catering for approximately 1150 students. St Thomas More College opened in 1974 and from inception developed a strong commitment to the pastoral care of students. Summary
Support our school's daily cafe and tuckshop operations, ensuring everything runs smoothly from start to finish.
* Location: St Thomas More College – Sunnybank (S)
* Start date: Commencing March 2026
* Work hours: 15 hours/week | Casual hours may fluctuate
* Salary: Services Staff Level 2 (Casual Rate) – $40.63/hour + super
In this position you will be responsible for:
* Assisting with planning menus and supporting healthy food programs
* Ensuring food is prepared and stored in accordance with food handling and hygiene procedures and guidelines
* Preparing and serving high quality coffee and beverages following the school cafe standards
* Operating espresso machines, grinders and other cafe equipment safely
* Assisting with maintaining adequate stock levels to meet daily and weekly menu requirements, including ordering, receiving, storing and stock takes
* Assisting with the daily cleaning and clean‐up of kitchen and storage areas to ensure high standards of food hygiene
* Observing workplace health and safety practices and notifying the Cafe Manager/Tuckshop Convenor of any potential hazard including any dangerous occurrences
* Assisting with making beverages at the school cafe and assisting with money handling and serving
About you
To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:
* Planning and supporting healthy, balanced menus, and accommodating special dietary needs
* Friendly and customer‐focused with experience in hospitality and café environments
* Skilled in preparing coffee and beverages while maintaining high quality and presentation
* Knowledge of proper food preparation techniques, food storage, and food safety protocols (e.g., temperature control, cross‐contamination prevention)
* Familiarity with workplace health and safety practices and the ability to identify and address potential hazards in the kitchen environment
* Experience in stock management, including ordering, receiving, storing, and performing stock takes to ensure adequate supplies
* Experience adhering to hygiene regulations, including maintaining cleanliness in food prep and storage areas, and conducting routine cleaning
* For this position you are not required to be Catholic
Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:
* Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
* Hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement
