Description

The Role: Residential Care Worker - Disability Focused

As a Residential Care Worker, you will provide direct support within a 24/7 therapeutic residential environment. You will play a critical role in ensuring young people feel safe, supported, and empowered.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Providing daily living support, including personal care, routines, education, appointments, and recreational activities
* Implementing individualised care plans, behaviour support plans, and therapeutic strategies
* Maintaining a safe, structured, and nurturing home environment aligned with Queensland Child Safety standards
* Supporting young people with complex disability, mental health, and trauma-related needs
* Building consistent, trusting relationships that promote emotional regulation and resilience
* Managing challenging behaviours using de-escalation strategies and trauma-informed responses
* Accurately documenting case notes, incidents, and progress reports
* Supporting community participation and skill development to promote independence and inclusion

This role requires emotional resilience, professionalism, and the ability to remain calm and consistent in high-pressure situations.

About You

We are seeking professionals who:

* Demonstrate a strong understanding of trauma-informed care and disability support practices
* Prioritise child safety, dignity, and rights in every interaction
* Are patient, reliable, and emotionally regulated
* Can work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
* Understand the impact of trauma, attachment disruption, and developmental delay
* Are flexible to work shifts across a 24/7 roster, including sleepovers, weekends, and public holidays

Skills and Experiences

Essential Requirements

* Certificate IV in Disability Support, Youth Work, Child, Youth & Family Intervention, or related field (or actively working towards)
* Current Paid Blue Card (Working with Children Check - QLD)
* Current NDIS Worker Screening (Yellow Card)
* Valid Driver's Licence
* Current First Aid
* Current CPR
* Unrestricted working rights in Australia
* LCS2 (or willingness to obtain)
