The Mechanical Engineering Technician is responsible for supporting the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of production machinery and mechanical systems across Knotwood Pty Ltd’s manufacturing facility.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring equipment reliability, production efficiency, and compliance with quality and safety standards. The position works collaboratively with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to deliver consistent and high-performing manufacturing outcomes.

Task & responsibilitiesMechanical Maintenance & Support
* Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs on production machinery and equipment
* Diagnose mechanical faults and implement timely corrective actions
* Assist with breakdown response to minimise operational downtime
Installation & Commissioning
* Assist in the installation, testing, and commissioning of new machinery and equipment
* Support upgrades and modifications to existing systems
Continuous Improvement
* Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, reliability, and efficiency
* Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the production environment
* Support lean manufacturing and optimisation activities
Technical Support
* Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications
* Provide technical support to production teams as required
* Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and documentation
Compliance & Safety
* Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements
* Comply with company policies, procedures, and quality standards
* Participate in safety inspections, audits, and hazard reporting
Qualification & experienceEssential
* Diploma or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related field
* Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Desirable
* Experience in a manufacturing or production environment
* Exposure to automated machinery or industrial equipment
* Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and processes
