Job Title: Vehicle Restoration Technician

Position Overview
The Vehicle Restoration Technician is responsible for the complete or partial restoration of classic, vintage, and specialty vehicles. This includes disassembly, repair, machining, fabrication, painting, assembly, and final testing — all performed to exacting historical or custom specifications. The ideal candidate possesses strong attention to detail, and a passion for automotive heritage and craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities
* Disassembly & Assessment: Safely disassemble vehicles and document parts, condition, and restoration requirements.
* Fabrication & Repair: Restore or reproduce body panels, frame components, and interior structures using period-correct materials and methods.
* Body & Paint Preparation: Perform bodywork, rust repair, priming, sanding, and painting using proper refinishing techniques.
* Assembly & Fitment: Reassemble vehicles with precision, ensuring proper alignment, fit, and function of all components.
* Historical Accuracy: Research and maintain authenticity for historically significant vehicles when applicable.
* Quality Control: Perform detailed inspections to verify accuracy, workmanship, and performance before delivery.
* Documentation: Keep thorough records of restoration work, parts used, and hours logged.
Qualifications
* Minimum 3-5 years' experience in classic or custom vehicle restoration, collision repair, or auto machining.
* Strong knowledge of automotive systems — mechanical, electrical, body, and paint.
* Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and fabrication/machining equipment.
* Understanding of welding (MIG/TIG), metal shaping, and finishing techniques.
* Strong attention to detail, craftsmanship, and problem-solving ability.
Preferred Skills
* Familiarity with vintage Australian, European, American, or specialty vehicles.
* Experience with paint systems, sandblasting, and rust prevention methods.
Physical Requirements
* Frequent bending, kneeling, standing, and use of manual tools.
* Comfortable working with chemicals, solvents, and automotive coatings.
