NSW Government -Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal of NSW
CEO
Posted: 29 September
Offer description

The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) makes the people of NSW better off through its independent decisions and advice. It helps people get safe and reliable services at a fair price. It acts with integrity and courage, curiosity and openness, respect and inclusion to make a difference for NSW.

IPART is led by three permanent Tribunal Members who are advised by a group of experienced economists, financial analysts, lawyers, engineers, and other professionals. It undertakes independent regulatory functions in the water, transport, local government and energy sectors in NSW and also undertakes reviews and investigations into a wide range of economic and policy issues, while performing a number of other roles at the NSW Government's request.

Reporting to the Chair of the Tribunal, the Chief Executive Officer is accountable for the delivery of IPART's strategy and day-to-day operational management of IPART's functions and organisational performance. The role is responsible for strategic leadership within the IPART Secretariat and providing advice to government across pricing, licensing and compliance matters and special investigations referred by the Premier or Minister.

This is a highly complex and impactful role, and the key areas of focus include:

- Leading and inspiring a diverse and highly qualified workforce and encouraging an innovative, cooperative, inclusive, safe, and high performing culture to build corporate knowledge and intellectual capability, to be a leader in regulatory practice and to meet evolving community expectations.
- Ensuring IPART helps NSW adapt to emerging challenges and opportunities such as climate change, economic instability and global developments.
- Enhancing IPART's capability to drive improved customer engagement and outcomes.
- Building effective engagement, strategic relationships and partnerships with diverse stakeholders, customer advocacy bodies, community groups and professional associations, to support the Tribunal in making well-informed decisions, while ensuring perceived and actual independence and guarding against regulatory capture.
- Providing a 'sounding board' for Executive Directors and Directors and communicating IPART's vision, direction and plans to continue building employee engagement.

To be successful in the role you will bring:

- Executive level management experience and a proven track record of leadership, preferably within or related to the regulatory sector.
- Demonstrated understanding of current economic, social, and environmental issues, customer and stakeholder engagement and regulatory processes within Australia and internationally.
- Understanding of the operations of governments and/or regulators
- Degree in finance, economics, law, engineering, management, or public administration and demonstrated relevant experience in a similar role.

**How to apply**

Through this process a talent pool may be created for future ongoing and temporary roles.
