About the Role
TRT Pastoral Group is seeking an exceptional Operations Manager - Beef to lead a landmark transition at our unique Woolnorth property in NW Tasmania — converting a highly productive backgrounding operation into a 3,500-head Angus breeding enterprise.
Woolnorth is 9,600 acres of some of the best pastoral country in Australia — highly reliable rainfall, outstanding pasture growth, and already running 8,000–9,000 backgrounding cattle. The foundation is exceptional. The opportunity is to redirect that productive capacity into a premium Angus breeding program using genetics from the TRT Pastoral breeding herd.

A family home on the property is included, and this is genuinely a role where your before-and-after results will speak for themselves — infrastructure upgrades, pasture renovations, fencing improvements, new stockyards, and a world-class breeding herd built from the ground up.
What You\'ll Be Driving
Operational Transition — Lead the strategic shift from backgrounding to a 3,500-head Angus breeding operation, managing the logistical, infrastructural, and livestock challenges that come with a change of this scale.
Genetics & Herd Development — Introduce and integrate premium Angus genetics from the TRT Pastoral bloodline, establishing a high-performance, self-replacing breeding herd.
Infrastructure & Property Development — Deliver property improvements including fencing upgrades, water infrastructure, new stockyard construction, and pasture renovations suited to a breeding operation.
Pasture & Land Management — Optimise one of Tasmania\'s most reliable rainfall regions for pasture production, designing rotational grazing systems to support 3,500 breeders and their progeny.
Livestock Operations — Oversee all animal husbandry, low-stress stock handling, health management, and welfare standards across the full operation.
Team Leadership — Build and lead an on-property team, fostering a strong safety culture and high-performance work environment.
Qualifications & What We\'re Looking For
You're a proven beef cattle leader who understands both the commercial realities of large-scale operations and the nuances of running a high-performance breeding program. You can hit the ground running on a property that's already performing — and take it somewhere new.
* A minimum of 5–8 years of experience in beef cattle/ dairy operations, with demonstrated leadership responsibility
* Experience with breeding herd management and Angus production systems
* Proven ability to manage large-scale property transitions or development projects
* Strong understanding of pasture management and land improvement
* Ability to manage budgets, plan projects, and report on outcomes
* A current Driver\'s Licence (Motorcycle Licence preferred)
* Australian work rights
* Low stress stock handling
* Certificate III in Agriculture or higher preferred, though experience and leadership capability will carry significant weight
