Salary package: $107,850 – $113,252 per annum plus 17% superannuation

Position Overview
The Heavy Ion Accelerators (HIA) National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) project operates world‐leading particle accelerators at the Australian National University and the University of Melbourne. The Mechanical Engineer will support the operation and maintenance of the HIA facilities, ensuring they remain world‐class and facilitating cutting‐edge research across physics, medical, quantum computing, environmental monitoring and industrial sectors.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, manufacture, assemble, repair and maintain mechanical equipment and scientific instruments for the HIA facilities.
* Collaborate with engineers, researchers, post‐graduate students and facility users to address engineering challenges.
* Provide advice, support and service across complex engineering aspects of the HIA NCRIS project.
* Ensure compliance with safety, maintenance and quality standards for the accelerator infrastructure.
Qualifications
Qualified Mechanical Engineer with experience in the design, manufacture, assembly, repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment and scientific instruments. Demonstrated problem‐solving skills and ability to workshop effective solutions with team members.
