We are currently recruiting for a Quality Assessor for our client, a global leader in defence engineering and manufacturing. This is a hands-on production quality role suited to candidates with a strong machining background and proven experience working in 5-axis CNC environments.
This is a full-time, permanent position based in Melbourne's southeast. Timings are from 6AM – 2:30PM.
Roles and Responsibilities
* Perform first-off and periodic inspections of precision-machined components and manage non-conformance reports.
* Develop in-process inspection plans (IPC) for mechanical items and conduct conformity checks against drawings and CAD models.
* Operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and Measuring Arm for detailed inspections.
* Support general production activities including loading vertical, horizontal and 5-axis machining centres where required and value-adding processes such as metal finishing where required.
Skills and Requirements
* Proven experience working with 5-axis CNC machining centres (essential).
* Strong hands-on background in manual machining, fitting, or fabrication.
* Prior exposure to vertical and horizontal machining centres.
* Experience working with non-ferrous materials, primarily aluminium, plastics and copper.
* Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and use CMM to inspect mechanical components.
NOTE: To be eligible for this position you must be an Australian Citizen and be eligible to obtain and maintain an AGSVA clearance – Baseline.
