Deflector Operation
Deflector Operation consists of two high-grade, narrow vein Gold/Copper mines, located 160 km east of Geraldton. The ore is contained in a series of structurally complex lodes, namely the Deflector and Deflector Southwest deposits.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor,
Mobile Maintenance Leading Hand
plays a key leadership role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the maintenance team. This role ensures underground and surface mobile mechanical equipment is maintained at a high level of availability while promoting safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
This position will be offered on an
8:6; 7:7
FIFO roster from Perth or DIDO from Geraldton; this position will include day and night shifts.
Responsibilities
Support the Maintenance Supervisor in leading the maintenance team to meet production and safety objectives
Act as a Supervisor in their absence, providing direction and leadership to the crew
Ensure plant and equipment are maintained to a high level of availability
Plan daily tasks in coordination with the Maintenance Supervisor to minimise downtime
Liaise with Supervisors to coordinate equipment repairs and maintenance
Raise purchase and work orders to ensure the availability of required parts and equipment
Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and incident investigations
Identify and implement efficiency improvements and cost-saving opportunities
Maintain maintenance facilities and ensure equipment is in good working order
Communicate job progress and delays to the Maintenance Supervisor
Attend and actively participate in shift change meetings and provide accurate handover notes
Assist with other maintenance tasks as directed as this is a hands-on position
About You
Mechanical Trade Qualification (Mechanical Fitter)
Minimum 5+ years post-trade experience in a mine site environment
High level of experience with general fitting activities in a gold/copper mineral processing plant
Our fleet will consist of Sandvik jumbos and longhole drills, Epiroc underground trucks, CAT boggers and graders, and a Volvo IT loader
Proven history in managing performance and instilling accountability (highly regarded)
Excellent crusher maintenance experience, particularly with Metso crushers
Experience in maintaining filter presses and flotation systems
Strong fault-finding skills with pumps and hydraulic systems
Experience with Microsoft Office and computer-based maintenance systems (ideally Pronto)
WA Manual Driver's Licence (C-Class)
Hold Confined Space Entry and Working at Heights
Gas Testing
High Risk Work Licences (BR, LF, EWP)
