We now have an opportunity for a senior News Producer/Reporter in our PERTH newsroom. We are looking for a highly experienced person with at least 6+ years of experience in broadcast news.
What you'll do as a Producer/Reporter
In this role, you'll be at the forefront of news coverage—investigating, producing, and delivering high-quality stories that matter. Reporting to the Executive Editor, you'll thrive in a fast-paced environment, working both independently and collaboratively to create impactful television news content.
Responsibilities
* Pitch, research, and produce original, high-quality news stories for broadcast.
* Work under tight deadlines to deliver clear, accurate, and engaging TV news content.
* Report live with confidence on breaking news events.
* Take the lead on complex news stories, from concept to broadcast with minimal supervision.
* Proactively source and line up stories, ensuring comprehensive and dynamic coverage.
* Cover other newsroom roles as required.
* Actively contribute to editorial decisions, finding stories that are relevant to our viewers.
* Manage time pressures and be able to meet multiple daily deadlines.
Qualifications
* Strong news judgment and a deep understanding of the TV news landscape.
* Exceptional communication skills—both on-air and behind the scenes.
* Ability to work under pressure and make quick, accurate editorial decisions.
* In-depth knowledge of local, national, and international current affairs.
* Proficiency in non-linear editing systems, with experience in TV news production.
* Flexibility to work across different shifts, including weekends, to meet newsroom demands.
* Strong grasp of media law and its application in news reporting.
