Our client is a growing funds manager with a global presence, who is looking to hire a Tax Associate into their specialist Australian tax compliance team.
In this role, you will be responsible for the delivery of Australian tax compliance obligations for a broad suite of investment products. Working closely with senior leaders and external service providers, you will ensure accurate, timely, and efficient tax reporting while contributing to enhancements in tax governance and operational processes.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys problem-solving, and is passionate about building scalable, technology‐enabled compliance frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage tax compliance obligations across multiple fund types, partnering with external service providers.
* Prepare and review tax workpapers, including trust, AMIT and company returns.
* Support tax provisions, distributions, PAYG calculations, registrations, elections and deregistrations.
* Conduct complex tax computations (thin capitalisation, CGT, loss testing, etc.).
* Develop and implement compliance processes and controls for new products and transactions.
* Liaise with the ATO on reviews, audits and amendments.
* Provide tax compliance advice to internal stakeholders.
* Manage investor tax queries and annual attestation requests.
* Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and assess impacts on fund operations.
* Drive process improvement, automation and innovation within the tax function.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
You're an experienced tax professional with a strong track record in Australian tax compliance, ideally within funds management, financial services or a similar environment.
You will bring:
* 5+ years' experience in tax compliance.
* CA/CPA qualifications (or progress toward).
* Strong working knowledge of trust taxation, the AMIT regime, investor reporting and relevant Australian tax legislation.
* Ability to interpret complex tax guidance and communicate clearly with stakeholders.
* Excellent analytical skills and proficiency with financial modelling/Excel.
* Proven experience working with external service providers.
* Strong organisational skills and comfort managing competing deadlines.
* A process‐improvement mindset and interest in automation, AI or data‐driven solutions.
