Key Responsibilities
- Reviewing, interpreting, and accurately entering incoming consumer complaints to OFT's compliance data base.
- Assisting parties clarify the issues in dispute and to negotiate suitable outcomes and resolve their disputes through telephone conciliation.
- Drafting written correspondence to both consumers and traders ensuring consistency with the legislation.
- Examine and assess trust account audit reports lodged by auctioneers, real estate agents, motor dealers and debt collectors to determine whether auditors and agents have met their obligations under the Agents Financial Administration Act 2014 and whether there are issues raised in those reports which warrant further investigation.
- Maintaining accurate records of matters conciliated on the OFT compliance database.
- Providing information via various mediums to consumers, traders and community members on their rights and responsibilities concerning fair trading matters.
- Participating in various forms of training for personal development
- Assisting with providing accurate operational statistics for reporting to supervisors and management.
- Providing administrative support to the Case Assessment, Response and Trust Accounts (CARTA), Complaint and Program Coordination Division.
The position operates in a high-volume environment. It undertakes, alongside other Assistant Compliance Officers, the receipt, recording, acknowledgement and conciliation of consumer complaints as well as receive, review and process reports of the results of audits of agents (ie. real estate agents, motor dealers, auctioneers and debt collectors) trust accounts which have been lodged with the Office. You will work semi autonomously in a frontline service delivery team environment providing timely outcomes to consumers and traders.
